The Unit for Psychosocial Suicide Research
Description
The Unit for Psychosocial Suicide Research investigates suicidality through an integrated sociological, psychological, and epidemiological lens. Our research aims to advance theoretical and empirical understanding of the complex and dynamic processes that give rise to and shape suicidal behaviour, by analysing the interplay between individual life circumstances, social relationships, and structural conditions. We combine population-based register studies, qualitative approaches, and intervention studies, social trajectories, and contextual influences over time. By studying both general populations and groups in contact with different societal arenas, including psychiatric care, we generate knowledge that can inform future strategies to reduce suicide and improve support across society.
