Our multidisciplinary research focus on people with neurodegenerative diseases (ND), such as Parkinson’s disease and major neurocognitive disorders (dementia). We also include people at risk of developing ND. Early detection facilitates timely support and rehabilitation.
Our research aims to determine early signs, consequences, unmet needs, and prognostic factors. We also aim to gain an increased understanding of how motor aspects relate to brain pathologies, future cognitive decline and different diagnoses. We also conduct methodological studies, including developing and executing intervention studies. A specific focus is motor aspects and cognitive-motor interference (dual-tasking). Our research integrates health sciences and neuroscience perspectives.
We have national and international collaborations, including a close collaboration with the Swedish BioFINDER team and health care. The research group (headed by Professor Maria H Nilsson) is part of the Strategic Research Area MultiPark, 51ÖØ¿ÚÁÔÆæ.
